LAHORE: Muslim and Christian scholars have demanded the United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) and parliament of Pakistan pass a resolution against a blasphemous film made in the US. A special ceremony was held at Governor’s House on Friday to record protest against the film. Four resolutions were passed in which participants demanded the OIC move a resolution condemning the film in the United Nations. They also passed a resolution that called on the United Nations to table a resolution in its House in order to award punishment to the filmmaker. Maulana Azad said that the blasphemous film had hurt sentiments of Muslims. He said that respecting religious belief of other people was key to ensuring peace in the world. Alexander John Malik also condemned the film, and said that such acts could hurt religious harmony. Separately, minority members in the city staged protest demonstrations against the sacrilegious movie to express solidarity with Muslims. All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (Founders Group), under the leadership of its chief, Pervaiz Rafique, staged a protest demonstration in Yuhanaabad.
